March reading: 10 unexpected lessons from the #GirlBoss

Sophia AMORUSO’s book is a good reading for those who want to succeed in life, no matter what kind of diploma you have or you don’t. During the whole book, she shares many useful pieces of advice about life, fashion, and business. Sophia is the perfect example of how you can turn your hobby into a full-time, highly profitable job. Here are the 10 lessons that can help you to move forward with your life.

« You is who you is, so get used to it. » This very first advice is the more useful, I think because you cannot go forward if you do not accept yourself the way you are. At the end of the day, there will be always someone who won’t like you, so, others’ opinions are not very meaningful.

« As a #GIRLBOSS, you should always be confident—and absolutely sure—about what you know, but humble about what you don’t. » It is true that there are so many pieces of advice in this book but I think this one is the most valuable one when speaking about personal development. And the last one, just to finish with this category:

« Knowing when to speak up and when to shut up will get you very far not only in business but in life. »

« Business plans are just a starting point—the best entrepreneurs know to listen along the way and adjust things, including their business plan. »

« Surround yourself with people who are engaged, honest, and confident enough on their own quest to support you on yours. There is no time for losers. » I chose this one, because it refers to business, but also it is very useful advice when speaking of personal development and personal relationships with other people.

“Money looks better in the bank than on your feet.” well, this is really true for people who want to invest in business or in long-term projects, like buying a house. But, buying new shoes, clothes or something else makes us really feel better. It is not a sin to spend some money from time to time, which lead me to the next lesson I learnt from Sophia Amoruso’s book:

« Do not spend more money than you have. »

« You think big and have ideas that are truly original. That comes from tapping into your own creativity, not obsessing over what everyone else is doing. » or being yourself and focus on what you want, love and like.

“All actions are creative”: maybe you cannot see an immediate result, but one day we will be able to have the fruits of our work.

« Here’s one thing the fashion industry probably won’t tell you: Confidence is more attractive than anything you could put on your body. » I will leave you think about this and find yourself the answer. Because, I am sure that it has already happened to you, to ask yourself the following question: “But what does she/he has more than me”…..
